Day 1 : Arrive Jayapura, Papua – Connect Flight to Baliem Valley (L,D)
Arrive at Jayapura and connect to a scenic flight to Wamena, soaring over the mist-clad cliffs of the Baliem Valley. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in this remote world where ancient traditions remain untouched by time. Please note local alcohol restrictions are strictly enforced in this region.
Begin your exploration at Napua Hills for a breathtaking panoramic view of the valley. Visit the traditional hanging bridge at Wesaput village, discover authentic Dani settlements, and wander through a vibrant local market. Check into the Baliem Pilamo Hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2 : Baliem Valley – Sogokmo – Kurima Trails (B,L,D)
After breakfast, drive 35 minutes to Sogokmo village in the southern Baliem Valley to begin a 4-5 hour trek. Navigate through traditional Dani sweet potato gardens and enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery as you head toward the Kurima sub-district.
Along the trail, encounter local Dani people in their traditional attire and experience their warm hospitality. After a picnic lunch, trek back to Sogokmo where your private car awaits to transfer you back to Wamena. Dinner and overnight stay at the Baliem Pilamo Hotel.
Day 3 : Baliem Valley – Jiwika for Pig Feast and War Dance (B,L,D)
After breakfast, drive 30 minutes to Jiwika in the northern Baliem Valley to witness a sacred 250-year-old Mummy. Continue with a short walk to Anemoigi village for an immersive cultural experience, featuring a traditional Dani mock battle and Pig Feast. Observe ancient rituals such as fire-making by hand and the “earth oven” cooking method using hot stones.
Enjoy a traditional lunch including grilled pig and local sweet potatoes before heading to Mili Mountain. Here, you will see Dani women demonstrate their unique, ancestral methods of traditional salt-making. In the afternoon, return to the Baliem Pilamo Hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 4 : Baliem Valley – Flight to Jayapura (B,L,D)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight from Wamena (WMX) back to Jayapura (DJJ). Upon arrival, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour starting with the MacArthur World War II monument, offering breathtaking views of the region.
Continue with a longboat cruise on Sentani Lake to visit the traditional villages of Assey and Ayapo, where you can observe the unique craft of Sentani bark painting. After a lakeside lunch at Yougwa restaurant, explore the Anthropology Museum, the vibrant Hamadi Market, and Jayapura city. Check into the Swiss-Belhotel Jayapura for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 5 : Jayapura – Departure (B)
After breakfast, transfer in time to Sentani airport for the next Destination.
